I wanted to focus on a brewery relatively close to our homes; August Schell’s Brewing Company located in New Ulm, Minnesota. If you have not visited this beautiful and historic brewery put it on your 2016 summer bucket list!

I added two videos below that I felt were great to share. The first one comes from the most recent accolade August Schell’s Brewing Company recently won at the 2016 World Beer Cup in Philadelphia. The second video is a little dated but showcases the unique history of the brewery that started in 1860.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Out of 6,600 entries, four Minnesota beers have been named among the best in the world. They won the titles as part of 2016 World Beer Cup in Philadelphia.

August Schell’s Brewing Company won silver for its Vienna-style lager called “Firebrick.” The New Ulm-based brewery says it has a “subtle maltiness combined with a hint of hoppy taste.” Firebrick took home the Gold Medal in the same category in 2014.

August Schell’s Brewing Company, 1860

August Schell’s Brewing Company is deeply rooted in German heritage as August the first generation of brewers laid the first brick for the brewery in 1860 after arriving from his homeland Germany. Today, their beers are living proof of their German heritage.
